Terms of Service
The rules that govern your use of the Vikoba platform. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Vikoba mobile application or website (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TukiTech Limited ("TukiTech", "we", "us"), a company registered in Tanzania.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of a country where the Service is available to create an account. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
You must complete our identity verification (KYC) process before you can join or create a savings group or make a financial transaction through the Service.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your PIN and any biometric authentication you configure.
You agree to notify us immediately at security@vikoba.co.tz if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
Each person may maintain only one Vikoba account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions is prohibited and may result in permanent suspension.
4. Savings Groups
Group creation and rules: Any verified user may create a savings group. The group creator sets the contribution amount, cycle frequency, payout order, and any penalty rules. These rules are binding on all members once confirmed.
Member obligations: By joining a group, you commit to making contributions on the agreed schedule. Repeated failures to contribute may result in removal from the group at the discretion of the group administrator.
Payout order: Once agreed and commenced, the payout rotation order may not be changed without the consent of all active group members.
Disputes: Vikoba provides the platform and records all transactions. We do not arbitrate disputes between group members. Members are responsible for resolving disagreements using the in-app chat and the recorded transaction history.
Group termination: A group may be dissolved by unanimous agreement of its members or by TukiTech if it is found to be operating in violation of these Terms.
5. Payments and Fees
Contributions: Vikoba does not charge a fee on contributions. Your mobile money provider may apply their standard transaction fees.
Withdrawals: A platform fee applies to payouts. The current fee schedule is available in the app under Settings → Tariff. Fees are deducted at the time of disbursement.
Mobile money: By initiating a payment, you authorise TukiTech to instruct your mobile money provider to debit or credit the specified amount. All transactions are final once confirmed by the mobile money provider.
Refunds: We cannot reverse mobile money transactions once processed by the provider. If you believe a transaction was processed in error, contact support@vikoba.co.tz within 7 days.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering or fraud; (b) impersonate another person or create a false identity; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Service; (d) use automated tools to access the Service without our written consent; (e) circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security or verification measure; (f) use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm other users.
7. Intellectual Property
The Vikoba application, website, brand, and all content within them are owned by TukiTech Limited and protected by Tanzanian and international intellectual property law.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for its intended personal or group financial management purpose. This licence does not include the right to distribute, sublicence, or commercialise any part of the Service.
8. Limitation of Liability
Vikoba is a platform that facilitates savings group coordination and mobile money transactions. We do not guarantee that group members will fulfil their contribution obligations.
To the maximum extent permitted by Tanzanian law, TukiTech's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the total platform fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
TukiTech is not liable for losses arising from: (a) your failure to protect your account credentials; (b) mobile money provider outages or errors; (c) group member disputes; (d) your violation of these Terms.
9. Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law or regulation.
You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@vikoba.co.tz. Closure will not be processed while you have active group memberships with pending contributions or payouts.
10. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall first be submitted to mediation. If mediation fails, disputes shall be referred to the courts of Tanzania.
